Terms of use

These are the terms for using PriceTrack at pricetrack.ng, including the public price board and the JSON feed. They are short on purpose. If something here is unclear, write to support@ranked.ng and we will explain it in plain words.

1. Who runs this site

PriceTrack is run by Ranked Technologies Limited, RC 9522220, of Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria. Contact for everything, including anything on this page, is support@ranked.ng.

The service runs on our own server in Istanbul, Türkiye, with Cloudflare in front of it. What that means for your data is set out in the privacy notice, including the fact that it is a cross-border transfer under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and that we are registered with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission under registration NDPC/DCP/14538. The mentions of Nigeria on this site refer to the company and to the shops we watch. They are not a claim about where the servers are.

2. What the service is

PriceTrack fetches public product pages on Nigerian online shops on a schedule, reads the price and the stock status that the shop itself publishes on the page, keeps a history of those readings, and publishes them as the Naija Price Board at /board/ and as a machine-readable feed at /board/board.json. Both are open to read with no login.

3. Prices are observations, not offers

This is the part to read twice. A price shown here is what the shop's page displayed at the moment our server last looked at it. The timestamp next to every row tells you when that was.

• A price can change the second after we read it. Ours is then out of date and the shop's is right.
• A shop can change how its page is built, and our reading can then be wrong or missing until we fix it.
• Prices are shown in naira as published by the shop. Delivery, service charges, discounts at checkout and bank charges are not included.
• Nothing here is an offer to sell, a quotation, or a promise that an item is available at that price.

Always check the shop's own page before you buy. It is the final word, not us. If you spot a reading that looks wrong, tell us at support@ranked.ng and we will look at that watch.

4. We are not affiliated with the shops

PriceTrack has no relationship of any kind with Konga, Slot, Supermart, or any other shop whose pages appear on the board. There is no partnership, no sponsorship, no affiliate arrangement, no commission, and no endorsement in either direction. We are not paid to place, rank or omit any product or any shop.

Shop names, logos and trademarks belong to their owners. We use them only to say which shop a price came from, and every product row links back to that shop's own page.

We read only pages that the shops publish openly, we identify our fetcher honestly with a link back to this site, and we never check a page more often than once an hour so that no shop carries a load because of us. Any shop that would rather not be on the board can write to support@ranked.ng and we will take its pages off.

5. Using the board and the feed

You may read the board, link to it, and use the figures for your own comparison or research. If you republish a figure, please say when it was observed and that it came from PriceTrack, because a price with no timestamp is misleading.

Please do not hammer the JSON feed. It is regenerated after each round of checks, so fetching it more than a few times an hour tells you nothing new. If you want the data at volume or on a schedule, ask us instead of scraping and we will work something out.

You may not use the site to break the law, to attack it or the shops we watch, or to pass our readings off as a shop's official prices.

6. The tool at /app

The tracking tool behind /app/ is for our own staff. It has one shared password, no public sign-up and no accounts. Do not attempt to log in without permission from us. Everything a visitor is meant to see is on the public pages, with no login and no cookie.

7. Money

Nothing is charged for PriceTrack. There is no paid plan, no subscription, no card form, and no payment processor connected to this site. Any price you see mentioned anywhere for a future seller plan is a proposal, not a live offer.

There is a specific reason we are not selling anything yet, and it is fair to say it. PriceTrack is built on the open source project changedetection.io, which ships a commercial licence document asking companies that host it commercially to agree paid terms with the upstream company. We have not agreed those terms. Until that is settled, there is no paid tier here and no money changes hands. Since we take no payment, there is nothing for us to refund.

8. Open source and attribution

PriceTrack is built on changedetection.io, licensed under Apache-2.0, at https://github.com/dgtlmoon/changedetection.io. The upstream licence and copyright are kept. The Naija Price Board, the naira price parsing and the shop basket on top of it are our own work.

9. What we do not promise

• We do not promise the site stays up. It runs on one machine that we own, with no standby, and it can be down for maintenance or a fault.
• We do not promise the board is complete. Some shops sit behind a browser challenge and are not on it yet.
• We do not promise an alert will reach you. No alerting service is connected today, and no mail relay is configured, so this site cannot send you email.
• We do not promise the price history survives. There is no off-machine backup yet.

10. Liability

PriceTrack is provided as it is, free of charge. We are not liable for a buying decision you made from a figure on this site, for a price that had changed by the time you reached the shop, for anything a shop does or fails to do, or for loss caused by the site being unavailable or a reading being wrong. Nothing in these terms removes a liability that Nigerian law does not allow us to remove.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts of Lagos State have jurisdiction over any dispute. That is a choice of law by a Nigerian company. It does not change the fact, stated above and in the privacy notice, that the server sits in Istanbul, Türkiye.

12. Changes

We can change these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed, and the current version is always the one on this page. If a change is material, we will say what changed in a line under the date.
